Simon De Roeck
Powerlifting Coach
About
Based in Belgium, Simon discovered strength training in 2015, developed a passion for powerlifting in 2020, and has been coaching since 2022.
With a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and currently pursuing his master’s in the same field, you could say his entire journey has been building toward becoming a powerlifting coach. Next year, Simon will defend his thesis on the relationship between coaching leadership and athlete affect. His academic background provides a strong foundation in physiology and biomechanics, which he continuously builds upon through both research and practical coaching experience.
Driven by curiosity and a hunger for growth, Simon is committed to improving as both an athlete and a coach. Central to his coaching philosophy is athlete feedback. He values collaboration and open communication to find the most effective solutions. His ultimate goal is long-term athlete development, achieved by blending evidence-based practice, athlete input, and personal experience into individualised training strategies.
As a firm believer in the importance of hypertrophy training for powerlifters, Simon views it as a cornerstone for building both strength and resilience. He emphasises the role of muscle development not just for performance on the platform, but also for injury prevention and overall athletic longevity. By applying his knowledge of human physiology and biomechanics, Simon continues to refine his methods, striving to create athletes who are not only stronger in the short term but also durable and adaptable over the long run.
