Kelly Mann is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist Brisbane (AEP) who specialises in the areas of musculoskeletal rehabilitation and performance for powerlifting.
Kelly also works with general injury rehabilitation, sports specific injury, chronic illness and disease.
Kelly’s extensive background as a powerlifting coach and working with strength sports athletes from novice to elite level enables her to have a deep understanding of rehabilitative lifting and the treatment of gym-related injuries.
Kelly links exercise prescription into performance and focuses on reaching the client’s goals by prescribing exercise for movement correction, improving muscle imbalance, injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Kelly’s areas of interest and specialisation include:
- back and hip pain and mechanics
- shoulder dysfunction and mechanics
- post-operative rehabilitation
- strength training for powerlifting
- chronic disease prevention and treatment
- osteoporosis and osteoarthritis
Tom Haynes is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist Brisbane (AEP) specialising in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and strongman athlete performance.
He works with clients to help manage chronic conditions by employing pain reduction strategies and improving mobility in order to help clients to move and live well.
Tom comprehensively investigates acute musculoskeletal conditions and applies evidence-based treatment in innovative ways, with particular interests in the treatment of shoulder, lower back, hip, knees and ankle conditions.
Tom’s particular areas of interest and specialisation include:
- acute and chronic back pain
- shoulder dysfunction and mechanics
- lower body conditions including hip, knee and ankle
- strength training for strongman and powerlifting athletes
Michael is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist Brisbane (AEP) who specialises in mental health and chronic disease prevention, treatment, and management. He employs evidence-based practice to help people in their day to day living by improving their strength, balance, mobility, and coordination.
Michael believes in supporting everyone he works with, ensuring they get the most out of their time where they might even begin enjoying exercise.
Michael has an extensive background in Pilates and strength training, where he has used his experience to help people overcome barriers and begin making long-term active changes to their lifestyle.
Michael’s areas of interest and specialisation include:
- Mental health
- Chronic pain mechanisms
- Powerlifting and Weightlifting
- Neurological disorders
David Hoffman is a qualified Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach currently undertaking studies in a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology.
David was an avid rugby player who has used his love of sport to achieve nationals qualifications within APU! His many years of experience competing within various sports has developed a plethora of coaching skills. This coupled with years in the fitness industry makes David an experienced coach with an ample skillset he is able to utilise with his clients.
David is a coach who is eager to be creative with his approach to ensure clients are able to get the utmost out of their training and has a key interest in ensuring his clients are able to reach their training goals efficiently.
David’s particular areas of interest and specialisation include:
- Movement efficiency
Steven Day is a seasoned Strength and Conditioning Coach, specialising in powerlifting.
Steven has competed in powerlifting since 2015 and coaching since 2016. During this time he has taken multiple people from beginner athletes to national champions. His athletes have broken over 30 national records since the birth of APU. Steven is ranked 5th within IPF for his squat for the U74kg weight class!
Steven has worked with athletes ranging from novice to elite level to help them reach their full potential.
Steven’s particular areas of interest and specialisation include;
- Peaking for competition
Shania is a qualified Personal Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Coach and a qualified ISSN Sports Nutritionist currently undertaking study in a bachelor of Exercise and Nutrition Science with future study to be completed in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
Shania is a seasoned coach with years of experience with group training, specialised 1:1 coaching and personal experience within powerlifting specific training. Shania’s secret weapon comes with her ISSN sports nutritionist accreditation which supports her passion for creating a balanced lifestyle approach to training.
Shania is an up and coming athlete within APU Powerlifting and is excited to support her clients to achieve their balanced and sustainable training goals.
Shania’s particular areas of interest and specialisation include:
- Sports Nutrition
- Creating balances and sustainable goals for clients
Rai is a Specialist Strength Coach in Strongman & Powerlifting. She has 6 years’ experience competing in Strength Sports, expanding her passion to coaching in 2020.
Rai is Strongman/ Strongwoman champion with multiple wins and podium finishes at State and National level competitions. Her future goal in the sport is to compete at an International level.
Rai’s number one goal as a coach is to identify clients strengths, push her athletes beyond their comfort zones, build their wheelhouse by improving anything that challenges them and ensure they’re achieving the absolute most from their training to reach goals they may never deemed possible.
Rai has a refined skill in tailoring her programming and coaching with her athletes to ensure they can succeed within whichever avenue they chose to explore within Strongman and Powerlifting. Rai looks to share her passion and dedication with training and coaching with others through online and face-to-face coaching, to build athletes, grow true sportsmanship and help individuals develop a solid foundation they can be proud of; not only in the sport of strongman, but in any strength sports they wish to excel in.
Rai’s particular areas of interest and specialisation include:
- Competition Preparation and Peaking
Simone has a background in psychology and exercise science and helps keep the team running smoothly.
Her goal is to ensure the performance centre is welcoming and supportive in addition to the whole team being able to offer the best-of-the-best services.
She finds joy in ensuring practitioners are supported and provided an environment to flourish and in turn optimally support their clients.
Simone will likely be who you are speaking to when looking to set up your membership and you’ll see her around the centre most days offering help or advice!
